Updates

NCS students and Mrs. Stiles were invited to offer input to a group of statewide stakeholders rewriting bullying legislation. The committee was grateful for our students' perspective on this important topic. This was a wonderful opportunity to see the legislative process in action. Commissioner Makin took a few minutes to chat with our students and thanked them for their service to future generations of Maine students.

Mid Winter Miscellany

NPTO's 2/7/2020 B I N G O is CANCELLED due to today's icy conditions and school cancellation. Please read on for other NCS news . . . .

Visitors to the art room often comment on its colorful ceiling. Tiles are created by 8th grade students and then added to the collage. The tile pictured above is the artwork of Emily B, Whitney N recently completed her contribution (below).

First grade students created seahorses from watercolor paintings. Toby F shares a nice example of that project (below).

The NCS library web page has been updated with recent news about Battle of the Books, the upcoming Bikes For Books program, the winter book fair, library classes, a new Online Public Access Catalog and more! Visit https://sites.google.com/a/aos93.org/ncs-library/home. There are some pretty cute photos on there too.

This has been a challenging season for some Maine schools dealing with illness.  The following information should be helpful to families when making decisions about attendance due to illness:

Illness/Communicable Diseases
Parents are asked to keep their children home when showing signs or symptoms of illness such as persistent cough/congestion, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, unexplained skin rashes or inflamed eyes. A student should remain home until all acute symptoms have subsided. Students that have vomited or have a fever are asked to stay home at least 24 hours from their last sickness event.  Please call the school if you have any questions.

We appreciate the positive response to our recent request to contact school by 9am if your student will be out, tardy or changing dismissal plans. This practice is very helpful in getting the information to the correct people in a timely manner.

Menu for 2/10-2/14:
While the AOS93 Nutrition Coordinator completes a period of transition, the breakfast/lunch menu for next week is listed below.

Parents, you are now able to access your student's lunch balance in Powerschool. Individual balances should not dip below $10. While we would not let a student go hungry, we do appreciate your help in pre-paying meals.
