February Break is upon us!

Grade 5--Chinese New Year!
Dear Families,

Have an enjoyable February vacation! Here are a few things to keep in mind when we return to school on Monday, February 26:
  • 7/8 grade group 1 will climb at Kieve. ALL 7/8 and CAL students should have returned a permission slip, regardless of the date these classes climb.
  • A Dr. Seuss Green Eggs & Ham celebration for Kindergarten is on Tuesday, Feb. 27
  • Kieve after school activities continue Sign Up for Kieve
  • Archery Club begins for grades 5-8 on Friday, March 2.
Parents, have you visited the Community Info for Families link also located on the school's website? It's a resource connecting information for families by local groups and has been recently updated. February 14--We made it to the 100th day of school!

There was an air of excitement in the halls the other morning as grades K-4 traveled in mixed groups to a variety of activity stations. Everything had something to do with 100 relating to math, movement, academics or art. The lobby became a museum filled with student collections.

February

Last week's Red Cross Blood Drive was a success! Eighth grade volunteers were on hand to help set up, sign in visitors, and offer snacks.

Congratulations to our basketball teams on a great season! The girls finished in 2nd place with 11 wins, 3 losses. The boys wrapped up their season in 3rd place with 11 wins, 5 losses.

Kieve after school activities continue to be a popular FREE option offered to our families. To view the after school schedule and/or sign up, KIEVE AFTER SCHOOL DETAILS  Space is still available in most groups.

The kindergarten has been invited to a special Valentine's event with residents of Lincoln Home. That's coming up next Tuesday, Feb. 13.

Next week is also 100 day. As of this moment, the 100th day of school is set to land on Wednesday, Feb. 14th (subject to change due to weather, if you catch my drift.) Some years, 100 day is like a moving target! K-4 students will have a variety activities to commemorate the day. There is always a little excitement in the air as small groups rotate between stations involving math, movement, and other academic/fun offerings. In addition, any collections of 100 that students want to share are displayed in the "lobby museum."  Hooray for 100 day!

K-6th graders are participating in Jump Rope for Heart this month. READ MORE about JRFH

Mrs. Week's WINTER NEWSLETTER is out this week including some thoughts and suggestions on managing stress that parents sometimes find helpful.

We'd still love to have some extra snowpants in the office to provide when someone needs a pair for recess. If you have an outgrown pair that you would like to donate, thank you!
