Success!

Our 3rd Annual Family Fun and Fitness Night was well attended. We had between 150 - 200 people  in attendance!  Families played basketball, tennis, gaga ball, walked the track, danced, enjoyed the parachute, enjoyed dinner together and more!

The newly renovated YMCA looks great!
Thanks to the combined efforts of NPTO and the JVS PTO, families were treated to pizza, fruit, veggies and water while they enjoyed family activities.

Now, this week, our focus is on our Spring Arts Festival on Thursday evening. We hope to see you there!

Well, here's some great news: The sunshine and warm temps have arrived just in time for today's first school spring ball games. Today our softball and baseball teams play in Bristol at 3:45. GO LIONS!!!!

Families, we invite you to come and enjoy approximately an hour of music and arts at NCS. The book fair will be open in the library that evening.

Here are other dates that many parents may need to have on their calendars:

Signs of Spring:

  • First Baseball/Softball away games, scheduled for Tuesday, April 24 and Thursday, April 26. GO LIONS!  Also, some of our students will participate in their first track meet on Wednesday, April 25. As always, check the NCS family calendar for updated sports info.
  • Friday April 27 Final Chess Club Celebration--yes, you've read that correctly--Friday (not Thursday).

  • In less than two weeks:  NPTO buy-on-get-one-free book fair in the library.
  • Thursday, May 3 NCS SPRING ARTS FESTIVAL/CONCERT.
After that, the school year zooms along with Grade 8 attending Kieve, Grade 6 to Hurricane Island, spring sports, Kindergarten registration. Please note the change that has been made to the AOS 93 school calendar: There IS SCHOOL for EVERYONE on Friday, May 25 (staff workshop day postponed to the end of the year).
Note to kindergarten families: No school for Mrs. Stewart's class on Thursday, May 31 and Friday, June 1 (registration/screening for the 2018-2019 K class).

April: Showers of Activity!

Alden H represents our school today at the 2018 Maine State Geography Bee in Farmington!

Lifetouch will be at school on Thursday, April 12. If you're interested, be sure that you have either (1) ordered a package online or (2) your child(ren) bring in their pre-paid form that morning. Forms recently went home with all students. We have extras in the office, if needed. Some families like to take advantage of Lifetouch's spring portrait offer, which has more options of backgrounds than the fall "school" pictures.Only the students with the form and those who pre-ordered online will be photographed this spring.

Our 7th grade heads to Kieve for Leadership School next week, April 9-13th.

Baseball, softball and spring track have officially begun. Refer to our school family calendar for practices. It looks like the first game is after spring break on Tuesday, April 24, an away game at Bristol. GO LIONS!!!!

Wait a minute! Spring break?!?!!!  Spring vacation. Already? Yes! Enjoy family time April 16-20.

Family Fun Night (free to all NCS families) at the newly renovated YMCA is happening Friday, April 27 beginning at 5:30. (See previous post for details.)

Also after spring break:

  • NCS Spring Book Fair, April 30-May 4.  It's Buy-One-Get-One-FREE!
  • Spring Arts Festival (concert) is Thursday, May 3 @ 6:15. Students should be in their classrooms at 6:00. Band and Senior Chorus warm up in the music room at 6:00. We hope you come to this spring event!
  • Kindergarten Registration for families with children entering school in September will be held at the end of May.  There will be no school for our current kindergarten class on Thursday, May 31 and Friday, June 1.  Families of children entering kindergarten 2018 are asked to complete this link by mid-April (or call the school office):  https://sites.google.com/a/aos93.org/ncs/home/kindergarten-registration
  • Information about spring/summer camps and activities will be posted on the community link on our web page and posted in our lobby. If you're looking for activities for your children, this link may be a helpful place for ideas:  http://ncskidscommunityinfo.blogspot.com/  It's updated as we receive information.
