Thank you from Grade 6

The sixth graders of Nobleboro Central School give thanks to all the people who helped raise $390 for Heifer International! We really appreciate all the money that you donated! Heifer International is an organization that raises money and then with the money buys animals using that money to get animals for people in need.
The class of 13 split up into groups and each small group got $130 to spend on animals. The groups bought different types of animals and some groups even spent their money on animal baskets. We wanted to raise this money because it’s for a good cause and helps people who are hungry or poor. Once again, Thank you so much for helping the sixth grade class raise $390!

Happy New Year to the NCS School Community!

Have you noticed the growing collection of aluminum can tabs in our lobby? What do we do with them, you ask? They are donated to a benefit project for the Ronald McDonald House in Portland. The tabs are recycled and ultimately generate funds for families who may need a "home-away-from-home" during extended periods of pediatric medical care.

At this point in the year, we'd like to remind parents about. . . .
  • Be sure to notify the school by 9 am, whenever possible, regarding absences, late arrivals and dismissal changes. There is a reason for asking this: (1) Accurate attendance data must be reported to the State at regular intervals during the school year. (2) It's helpful to have the dismissal changes early in the day so changes can be shared with the appropriate people.
  • Developing brains and bodies need fuel to function well. Our kitchen staff's goal is to offer tasty, nutritious meals and keep our individual student balances at or below $10.  School lunches are expected to be paid for in advance, however, we don't expect students to go without a meal. We really do appreciate your help in keeping lunch accounts current!
  • Free/Reduced Meals (FRL) Did you know that applying for FRL meals can be done at any time during the school year? In 2019-2020, a family of 4 with a monthly income of up to $3970 is eligible for a reduction in lunch charges. If you feel your family may qualify, please pick up an application at the school office. This completely confidential process helps support our school meal program. Students are scanned with bar codes when purchasing breakfast or lunch so neither staff nor students are unaware of which students receive free/reduced meals.
  • It's NWEA testing time at school. Help your child do his/her personal best by making sure they are getting adequaTE rest, are well fed and tell them not to stress over it!  Assessments often begin in the morning. Arriving at school on time is a way to help your child too.
