June!

What a beautiful day to surprise Mrs. Hassett with a special outdoor recess-celebration!

The last day of school is almost upon us (but not quite yet).
Monday, June 18, we're planning a field day, so dress appropriately.  (If it rains, we'll be indoors.)  We have important things to wrap up on Monday, report cards, etc. We'll be busy right up until DISMISSAL AT NOON.  Plan accordingly!

All outstanding lunch balances are due Monday, June 18.  (Credit balances will be carried forward to September.) You'll receive an email today if you have a balance as of this afternoon.  Please add Monday's meal(s) if necessary.

Many families have been taking advantage of the variety of offerings to support academic progress during the summer. It's not too late!  The May 15 post has all the information you need. Contact mhingston@aos93.org or cweeks@aos93.org if you have questions.

Enjoy the weekend. See you on Monday!

They're off!

GO LIONS! Game time:  3:30!
(Update:  Medomak 12 NCS 6)

Hello! We're still here!

It's an exciting week for 8th grade students at NCS!   They're completing work and preparing for the 8th grade promotion celebration, as well as looking forward to a trip tomorrow and golf and lunch on Wednesday!  One rite of passage for 8th grade is the honor of installing their unique ceiling tiles in the art room ceiling. The picture above shows them adding finishing touches to their tiles.

Everyone's excited about today's championship softball game! GO LIONS!

K-7 grade families:  We have summer learning opportunities to support this year's growth! Please see the Tuesday, May 15 post for details and ways to support students throughout the summer.

We've welcomed our new kindergarten students and are looking forward to their arrival in September. New parents, be sure to call if you have questions. (You will be hearing from school in the summertime.)

It's a fun week for all and yet, here we are still working!  The last student day is Monday, June 18. Dismissal will be at noon.

You'll want to read this!

Everyone has been curious to meet our new NCS principal. Here he is! Mr. Martin Mackey arrived at school early yesterday and began the morning by greeting buses with Mrs. Hassett.  He spent the rest of the day's visit in classrooms, observing and meeting students and staff.

Mr. Mackey will undoubtedly be a familiar face around NCS by the time students arrive back at school on Wednesday, August 29.  (Did you catch that? The first day of school after summer vacation is August 29.)

In the meantime, we are enjoying our time with Mrs. Hassett. We appreciate that she'll be in and out of our building next year in her new role as AOS93 curriculum coordinator.

GO LIONS!

Congratulations to both baseball and softball teams for making it to the south semifinal Busline League games last Thursday.

The girls defeated Oceanside 13-1. They will face either Great Salt Bay or Camden this week in the Busline League South finals game. If they win, they'll move on to the Busline League Championship facing the winner from the North.

The boys lost to Bristol in a very close, competitive game. NCS led the whole game, but in the bottom of the 7th the home team (Bristol), with their last player at bat, tied it up and a run scored for the win. Our boys should be proud of themselves for playing such a great game.

Now it's June!

Hurricane Island Moments
The days at the end of the school year really do go by quickly.  There are many activities going on, and yet we'll still manage to squeeze in time for important learning!

Grade 6 will be off on an outdoor academic adventure to Hurricane Island. Several 8th grade students will be heading on the outing club trip, Kindergarten and grade 2 have plans to explore the Rachel Carson Salt Pond Preserve. Meanwhile, Grade 5 wraps up DARE with a trip to the Sea Dogs.  Grades 7, 8 & CAL will have a field day at Lincoln Academy to participate in friendly competition with other AOS 93 schools. It will be a busy, FUN week . . . and still we learn!

Congratulations to the baseball team for a successful spring 2018 season. Our softball team is still in the playoffs!  Hooray for the Lions!

During June all families are encouraged to be conscious of your students' lunch balances--even the tiny amounts. We are required to have all balances paid up by the last day of school. Sometimes families are not aware of tiny balances, and to help you stay on top of this, we'll send out occasional emails and let you know if your child has a balance. (Hopefully, you'll find this helpful.)

The Troupe!
Thank you to Grades 2 and 3 for sharing "American Patriotic Symbols." Their play today was a huge success!
