What happened to May?

The month of May:  Zoom!  (Don't blink!) For some people May is black fly season, for others it's a time to delight in the many shades of green--grass, budding nature, grass-stained knees--a welcomed change after mud season in Maine.

Here are some school-related things to be aware of as May wraps up and we look ahead to June at NCS:

  • No school for students on FRIDAY, MAY 26:  Staff Development Day
  • No school MONDAY, MAY 29:  Observance of Memorial Day
  • Softball/baseball/track continue. See the NCS FAMILY CALENDAR for game dates/times.  GO LIONS!
  • Grade 6 leaves for a learning adventure at Hurricane Island, WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY, MAY 31-JUNE 2
  • FRIDAY, JUNE 2:  8th grade outing club trip
  • FRIDAY, JUNE 2:  Grades 2 & 3 play production, Good Manners
Also, in the coming weeks grades 6-8 will participate in Field Day at Lincoln Academy, grade 5 will celebrate D.A.R.E. by taking in a Sea Dogs game, some classes will make trips to the Historical Society, and 8th grade will participate in their own end of the year activities.  Keep an eye on the NCS FAMILY CALENDAR for June events.

Enjoy the long Memorial Day weekend!

Food for thought . . .

Angela and Heather work hard each day to prepare fresh, delicious meals for the students and staff at Nobleboro Central School.  NCS is recognized by Let's Go 5210 as a Smarter Lunchroom.

Smarter Lunchrooms use local products, when available, offer taste tests of new foods, make meals healthy, and encourage kids to try new things.

Angela and Heather do all of this and they serve our meals with a smile!

Jump!

NCS TOP FUNDRAISERS FOR JRFH:  Josh W (gr 3) Abby H (gr 2) Tony R (gr 6)
TOTAL RAISED FOR 2017 JUMP ROPE FOR HEART:  $2143!

The students at NCS participated in Jump Rope for Heart to raise awareness about heart health and to support those in need by raising money for The American Heart Association.  Students participated in jump rope activities in physical education, watched a video about how the program has helped other children and celebrated their participation at the 3rd Annual Family Fun and Fitness Night at the CLC YMCA!  The program and event are great examples of how when people work together, great things happen!   Other organizations that supported the Family Fun and Fitness Night were Healthy Lincoln County, The American Heart Association and  Let's Go 5210.

This week, student musicians and performers will be working together to bring you our Spring Arts Festival on Thursday, May 4th. The spring concert begins at 6:15. Students should be in their classrooms at 6pm. Band and Senior Chorus members should meet in the music room at 6pm to warm up. We hope you'll come!

Lifetouch spring portraits are here! Stop in the office if you are at school or you may view your child's package before the performance on Thursday evening. Be sure to check out our BUY ONE GET ONE book fair taking place in the library while you are here Thursday evening. The book fair is open immediately before school and at dismissal. It will also be open on Thursday evening before/after the concert.

Happy May Day!  Enjoy the week!
